The much-awaited publication of the new international standard is welcome. It is expected to support the industry globally in its carbon reduction efforts by providing the first universal method for logistics emissions accounting.
It has become increasingly obvious that a uniform, harmonised and transparent methodology to calculate CO2 footprint across the logistics supply chain is required. The aim of the Standard is to embed the principles of the GLEC Framework into a formalised ISO structure and ensure that companies, governments, and investors use a single methodology, consistent with the GLEC Framework, in the future.
