UPDATE: GVMS – CDS Issue

We were experiencing an IT issue affecting some Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) users, who were trying to add Customs Declaration Service (CDS) import declaration references to Goods Movement References (GMRs).

We have successfully tested and deployed a fix and GVMS users should now be adding all CDS import declaration references to their GMRs. To give some time for our customers to adjust, we will be removing the limited business continuity plan that has been in place at 13:00 today, 29th March.

Drivers moving goods only need to attend an Inland Border Facility if:

  • they receive a routing or held message in GVMS directing them to an IBF. Drivers can use the ‘check if you need to report for an inspection’ service to understand if their goods are held.
  • moving goods going to an office of departure or office of destination (starting or ending a transit movement)
  • using any carnet or document (such as a Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) permit) that need to be processed by Border Force, or
  • instructed to by a customs officer

We apologise for the inconvenience this had caused.
